Our renovated, clean, and comfortable home has serene setting, views of the Potomac River, and many mature trees - a retreat area with friendly neighbors. There are nearby metro stations, 2 blocks from a metro bus stop, and 12 miles from the National Mall in Washington where museums and monuments are located. The home’s main level is 2,000 sf with wonderful views from every room and it is situated on 0.7 acres of park-like ground. A playground is in our yard. The main bedroom includes a king size bed and a full bath with body massage sprays. The 2nd bedroom includes a trundle day-bed and desk; this room has a double-door connected to the main bedroom. The 3rd bedroom includes two twin beds. The living room includes a piano. The family room includes a 40” HDLCD TV, a DVD player, some books and magazines, and some toys and books for little ones. There are several international news channels (France, Russia, Japan, China .... and also in English) besides Roku and Neflix free on-demands. There is WIFI internet and a spare computer. Access to the country club pool (5 minutes away) as our guests may be possible in the summer. More inside photos would be available when we communicate via email. We take good care of our house and will do the same with others and respect their properties as we expect the same from our guests.

Cleaning service at the end of visiting can be arranged.

Our wonderful neighborhood at the Potomac River is located in Fort Washington, Maryland, 5 miles south of the borders of Washington DC and Alexandria, Virginia. There are almost no drive-thru vehicles on our street but some leisurely walkers. It is an easy 20-minute drive to the National Mall in Washington where wonderful museums and monuments are located. A vehicle would be available for guests to use. Two Metro stations with parking are 15-minute away, and a 10-minute metro ride to be in the center of Washington. A metro bus stop is three blocks away. Dulles Airport (IAD), includes many direct flights to European cities, is 50-minute and DCA is 30-minute away.

National Harbor (NH) is a 5-minute away and it features Gaylord National, the largest combined resort and convention center on the east coast. NH has regular water taxi schedules to/from Old Town Alexandria, Georgetown, and Mount Vernon along the Potomac in addition to cruises and charters. NH also has farmers market, outdoor movies, concerts, and fireworks weekly in the summer time and ice sculptures during the winter holidays. Trails along the river to DC and Mount Vernon are nearby and there are many beautiful parks and some golf courses. Alexandria is a 15-minute drive. George Washington's home at Mount Vernon is a 25-minute drive, across the river.

Many wonderful venues of concerts, performances, films, and children programs are available every week all year round and almost everyday in summers; most of these have free admission. There is a city bike rental program (bike friendly city) as well as other retail bike rentals, Segway, and rentals for canoes, kayaks, and sail boats. There are plentiful restaurants of all nationalities. Washington may be unique in that more than 170 embassies are located here and several embassies often host cultural events in addition to 50+ museums. The city has a diverse population with many educated internationally, young and old as well as many children. A wonderful cultural city with natural surroundings ... one can visit again and again.

Some ideas for day trips: Annapolis and Chesapeake Bay is a 45-minute and Baltimore is an hour drive. NEW YORK CITY is 4.5 hrs and Philadelphia is 3 hrs; coach bus services are affordable and available to both cities with frequent and early/late schedules. Atlantic Ocean is 2.5-hrs away & Shenandoah Mountains are 2-hrs. Colonial Williamsburg is 3-hrs and Thomas Jefferson's home is a 2.5-hrs.

Occasionally, our sister from southern CA may like to join us partially only if possible. She loves any opportunity to be with her only niece.

We have a beach townhouse in St Augustine FL but our wonderful tenants there are happy to stay for the time being. We would be interested to visit there every couple years.

We desire to travel up to two long trips a year, one to two weeks each. We may travel three weeks at a further destination. Mild or ideal weather and school holidays are preferred. We may be interested in a 5-day holiday weekend trip within a few hours drive .. although limited and some plan ahead.

We are open to suggestions ... We wish to visit Annecy/Geneva, Banff; Stockholm; northern Italy lakes; Seville; Vienna; Salzburg; Prauge; ... Caribbeans; many US coastal towns including Acadia, Cape, WA, OR; and the ski areas in the west.

We have an exchange arrangement in central coast of OR in August. It would be great if we would have a non-simultaneous exchange for a second home for 3 days in OR northern coast or Portland.

We are a married couple in the 40s with a daughter who is 6 years old. We both are civil engineers and work in Washington. Besides having appreciation for music, art, and dance, we are fascinated with different local lifestyles, cultures, and people. We enjoy natural beauty of ocean/water and mountain areas. We do ski and our little one has been to 4 European countries and the Caribbeans. Each of us two understands a tiny bit of French or Spanish.

We are non-smokers and respectful. We don't have pets but do enjoy them. We had success and delightful exchanges at Santa Cruz, Napa, Wintergreen, La Jolla, Normandy, London, and Vietnam and we look forward to a next exchange.
