| The chalet is our second home in the mountains, 650m above sea level. It has been build in 2007 on our large (18000m2) estate. The wooden construction is composed of slowly growing arctic pine, imported from Finland. The house has no immediate neighbors, it is surrounded by nature only. We spend most of our free time here. The chalet has a generous patio including a street ball basket, a spacious terrace with a barbecue and running water. My wife tends a vegetable garden, our children love to invite friends, play basketball and have parties. It is a place where everybody forgets about the worries of life. The chalet is delightful in all seasons. In summer it is cool and shady under the walnut trees. We hike a lot in the surrounding woods. Autumn is the mushroom picking season, in winter we enjoy the sauna and the plentiful snow. In spring we get our first sunshine of the year working the garden. In spite of the fairytale flair, the chalet is equipped with modern technology. | The immediate neighborhood is pure nature. Woods, pastures, an old orchard and a nice view of the surrounding hilltops. At the same time, the chalet lies in the heart of Slovenia which in turn lies in the heart of Europe. Nothing is far. One hour by car to Slovenia's capital Ljubljana, 30 minutes to Postojna cave, 1 hour to the Adriatic, 2 hours to the Slovenian Alps, 2 hours to Trieste (Italy), 2 hours to Klagenfurt (Austria) and 2 hours to Istria (Croatia). We're a family of four. My wife Tanja (45), our daughter Katja (18), our son Samo (20) and myself (45). We live and work in Ljubljana (capital of Slovenia). My wife and myself are trying to take things more easy. Tanja owns a small publishing company and I'm a boring academic. Katja is in secondary school and Samo is studying computer science. We're all well mannered and have traveled together a lot, however our children are not necessarily joining us on every trip. We've done several exchanges so far and we're absolutely thrilled by the experience! Since the chalet is our second home we're very flexible with our schedules.
