We have a beautiful, five-bedroom/four-bath second home in the moutains west of Boulder, Colorado and only 75 minutes from Denver, Colorado. It's easy to find and get to, but incredibly isolated and quiet. It's situated on a small mountain lake with views of the Continential Divide. It's four miles north of the very small mountain town of Ward, Colorado. Down the road is Nederland, Colorado, which has a ski area called Eldora that has both alpine and nordic trails. Eldora is the locals' favorite - great for kids and adults alike - and often overlooked/unknown by tourists. Here's info on Eldora. http://www.eldora.com/ We ski there all the time.

The cabin is spacious, incredibly sunny, and open with hardwood floors throughout. The kitchen is large and easy to use. The bedrooms include a master suite with king-sized bed and full bath. Two other bedrooms have king-sized beds as well. The fourth bedroom has a queen bed. The fifth we are converting to a kids room, with a bunk bed (picture coming soon). The cabin has continuous wireless internet access, a 30 inch TV with blu ray DVD and Netflix streaming. There's a stereo in the main room with speakers in every major area of the cabin, including the decks.

Our cabin is literally a 10-step walk from Hidden Lake, a spring fed mountain lake just north of the little town of Ward, Colorado. The larger town of Nederland, Colorado is only 15 minutes to the south. We have a canoe, with oars and life jackets. We also have a two-seat pedal boat. The lake is stocked with fish for fishing - catch and release. You can see a million stars at night. Everywhere you look, it's like a postcard.

Within a few miles is access to many mountain trails in the Roosevelt National Forest and trailheads into the Indian Peaks Wilderness area. Thirty-four miles north is Estes Park and the eastern entry to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Fifteen minutes away is Nederland, a great mountain town with a diverse selection of good restaurants, a grocery store, natural foods coop, yoga studio, coffee houses, used bookstores, eclectic shops, Barker Reservoir, and a world renowned carousel for the kids. Boulder is a 25 minute drive away. Boulder's Pearl Street Mall is one of the great shopping and restaurant districts in the U.S. Learn more here. http://www.boulderdowntown.com/

Denver is only 75 minutes away. It's one of America's great cities. The Denver region (including Aurora, Golden, and parts south) has 2.4 million people, but it feels like a small city with its neighborhood shopping and restaurants. It's the state capitol, and boasts many impressive state buildings to tour as well as numerous art museums, the botantic gardens, zoo, aquarium, natural history museum, and beautiful large parks. The top of the gold-guilded state capitol dome has been reopened, so you can climb to the top and see for miles.

Recently, we exchanged a home with a family in Costa Rica. Prior to that, we exchanged with a family from New Zealand. Both were wonderful experiences. Each are available for a reference.

We don't really have specific destinations. Vancouver is special because we have friends close. Otherwise, we just love to travel and welcome any inquiries both within and outside the U.S. For instance, we want to see Canada, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Scotland, Norway, Greece, China, Vietnam, India, New Zealand, Brazil, etc. - just to name a few places that we can't wait to visit.

Our past two exchanges were proposed to us, so we are open to anything.

My name is Judd. My wife's name is Lyn. I am the election director for the state of Colorado (USA). Lyn is a public policy researcher and senior research associate at a public policy research firm, Spark Policy Institute. Before moving to Colorado, we were political science professors at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska. We are vegetarian non-smokers.We have two girls, ages eleven and five.
